NGT summons Defence Secretary over report on compliance of environmental norms by Armed Forces

Exim Bank provides USD 500 mn credit to Bangladesh for defence procurement
Export Import Bank of India entered into an agreement on April 11 with Bangladesh's Armed Forces Division for making available to the latter a Government of India-supported line of credit (LoC) of USD 500 million, the RBI said in a notification on Friday. The LoC is for the purpose of financing defence-related procurement in Bangladesh, it said.

The strategic direction needs to be provided by an overarching DIS which sets the course ahead , by taking a capability driven systems view of the entire gamut of defence manufacturing. The defence industrial policy of yesteryears which stipulated self sufficiency and self reliance did not amplify what was to be done to achieve these aims.
