    The air quality index (AQI) in Delhi at 9 am on Sunday stood at 254 against an AQI of 412 at the same time on Saturday. The AQI in Faridabad was 228, Ghaziabad 241, Greater Noida 192, Noida 224 and Gurgaon 193. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered 'poor', 301-400 'very poor' and 401-500 'severe'.

    "Why is there a need today to seriously think about the issue of pollution. The air is toxic in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Banares, Lucknow and many other cities. In this very air, our children go to school and our labourers and common people go to work," she said in a tweet in Hindi using hashtag "LetsUniteAgainstPollution".

    On Sunday, the national capital's average AQI stood at 494, the highest since November 6, 2016 when it was 497. An AQI between 0-50 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor' and 401-500 'severe'. Above 500 falls in the 'severe plus' category.

    District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey told that all mobile companies had been told to keep their services suspend. He said the step had been taken to prevent hate-mongering on social media in view of violence in the state after the passage of the new citizenship law in Parliament.

    The tribunal directed that a copy of this order be sent to the DPCC, District Magistrates East and North East Delhi, Uttar Pradesh state pollution control board and the District Magistrate, Ghaziabad by email.
