US Congress consents to designate India's NAVIC as allied system
Indigenously developed, NAVIC is an autonomous regional satellite navigation system that provides accurate real-time positioning and timing services. As per the NDAA 2020, approved by a bicameral conference report, the NAVIC system of India would be treated as “allied system” at par with the Galileo system of the European Union and QZSS of Japan.
ADB trims India's GDP growth forecast to 5.1% in FY20
"India's growth is now seen at a slower 5.1 per cent in fiscal year 2019-20 as the foundering of a major non-banking financial company in 2018 led to a rise in risk aversion in the financial sector and a credit crunch. Also, consumption was affected by slow job growth and rural distress aggravated by a poor harvest," Asian Development Bank said.
Onion imports from Afghanistan cool down prices in India
As many as 50 trucks laden with onion crossed over to India across Attari check post and 55 trucks had brought the tuber on Monday this week. The landed cost of onion from Afghanistan is Rs 40-55 per kg while the local crop is priced at Rs 65- 75 per kg and retail prices are hovering over Rs 100 per kg. The spurt in international supply has cooled down wholesale prices of onion by 20-30%, said traders.

India's electricity demand falls for fourth straight month
Electricity demand fell to 94.60 billion units in November, from 98.84 billion units during the same period last year. India's power demand fell 13.2% in October from a year ago, posting its steepest monthly decline in more than 12 years, reflecting a deepening growth slowdown in Asia's third-largest economy.
