    The Indian Railways recorded its worst operating ratio in 10 years in 2017-18 at 98.44 per cent, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said in a report tabled in Parliament on Monday.

    As part of its obligations & commitment to reduce carbon footprints, Indian Railways is taking several initiatives in the field of Green Energy to achieve the same.

    The honour came on the basis of compliance of food safety and hygiene, availability of healthy diet, food handling at preparation, trans-shipment and retail/serving points, food waste management, promotion of local and seasonal foods and creating awareness on food safety and a healthy diet, said Western Railway chief spokesperson Ravinder Bhakar.

    "Indian Railways is the lifeline of the country. Now, the BJP government has also brought railways to its worst state. After a few days, just like other government entities, this government will start selling of railways as well. This government is skilled at selling, not creating," Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.

    The railways recorded an operating ratio of 98.44% in 2017-18, worst in 10 years, CAG said in its report.

    The crisis in Telangana is a reflection of the precarious position of state-run bus operators in India, which have seen their losses swell every passing year.     The Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) has been conceived to impart structured and professional training to finance and accounts officers of the railways to face emerging challenges and tap opportunities to strengthen the finances of the organisation, officials said.

    Senior railway officials said the non-performers have been identified and they may be shunted out in the next couple of weeks. Though they said the review of performance of government employees who have completed 30 years in service or are over 55 years has been in the rule book, now it's being followed more religiously.

    Addressing to Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal informed that Indian railways earned Rs 139.20 crore from the sale of platform tickets in 2018-19 and Rs 78.50 crore till September this fiscal. Rs 230.47 crore were earned from advertisements and shops including those on the platforms in 2018-19.

    "Railways has restored train services to benefit thousands of local commuters to travel by train over the entire area between Baramulla and Banihal (138 Km). The decision to re-start the train services in Kashmir Valley was taken after due security audits and assurance by Government Railway Police, Jammu and Kashmir." Train services were suspended on August 3.
