Lok Sabha passes bill to raise chit fund amount by three times
According to the bill, it is proposed to raise the maximum chit amount from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh for those managed by individuals or less than four partners, and from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 18 lakh for firms with four or more partners. The maximum commission for the 'foreman', who is responsible for managing the chit, is proposed to be raised from 5 per cent to 7 per cent.

Challans worth Rs 577 cr issued since Sept 1
As per information available in the database of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), 38,39,406 traffic challans in 18 states were issued since September 1. The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 made with the intention of disciplining road users resulted in increase of traffic penalties by several times.
Two-third of Naxal violence occurred in just 10 districts, minister tells Lok Sabha
Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said in the Lok Sabha that the steadfast implementation of policy has resulted in consistent decline in violence and in the geographical spread shrinking of Left-Wing extremism. "Only 10 districts account for 2/3rd of Left Wing Extremism violence," he said in response to a written question.
Rs 577-crore challans issued so far since rollout of new Motor Vehicles Act: Govt
Tamil Nadu saw the highest number of challans at 14,13,996, While the least number of challans were recorded in Goa at 58. The government recently said it has no information about any state not implementing the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019. However, some states have reduced penalties in accordance with the powers granted to them under the Act.
Govt sanctions 305 projects for Clean Ganga Mission: Shekhawat
Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said a total of 305 projects have so far been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 28,613.75 crore, out of which 109 projects have been completed and rest are at various stages of implementation.
442% rise in the number of URLs blocked
IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed to the question raised by Congress MP Jothimani over removal of “objectionable online content posted on social media.” According to the reply, while the government had blocked 633 URLs in 2016, the number climbed up to 3,433 in 2019 (till October 31), a jump of 442%.
Direct EC to fix mismatch before declaring results: PIL
The PIL claimed that research showed discrepancies in EC’s voter turnout data and votes counted. The discrepancies ranged between 1% to 10% and amounted to 7,39,104 votes. The petition claimed that it wasn’t questioning the results but wanted EC to evolve a protocol and handle such situations in a transparent way.

The indigenously developed Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft comprising of orbiter, lander and rover was successfully launched on-board the indigenous GSLV MK III-M1 Mission on July 22. The Lander was separated, as planned, from the Orbiter on September 2 2019. Powered descent of the lander was initiated on September 7 to achieve soft landing on the moon surface.

The government has earlier said that till the completion of the merger, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) will operate as a subsidiary of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). Both the debt-ridden companies have rolled out voluntary retirement scheme (VRS), which is open for employees till December 3.
Defence offsets worth $5.67 billion signed in 3 years: Minister
The Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik informed through his reply that since the opening of private sector in defence production in 2001, 452 industrial licenses have been issued till October 2019 for manufacturing of a wide range of defence items. Out of these, a total of 109 licenses have been issued in the last three financial years.
SC, ST, educationally backward people in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh will continue to get reservation in jobs: Government
"Before the revocation of Article 370 and 35A, 'The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004' was in force to provide reservation in jobs to the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other socially and educationally backward classes in the erstwhile state of J&K," Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
