  • According to the portfolio-sharing arrangement that is being worked out by the three main parties, NCP’s Jayant Patil, who has already been sworn in as a minister, could become the deputy chief minister and given the home portfolio. Maharashtra has a tradition of allotting the home portfolio to an ally of the CM’s party.

    The third phase of polling will decide the fate of legislators in 17 seats out of the total 81 assembly constituencies. A total of 309 candidates, including 32 women, are contesting from 17 assembly seats. The constituencies, including two reserved for SC candidates and one ST candidate, in which voting is being held are spread over eight districts in the state.

    Pankaja Munde on Thursday said that the party wants the 'old BJP back', referring to the period before Devendra Fadnavis took over the party's leadership in the state.

    “When there is a change in administration and you’ve a big project going on, it is important to have a courtesy call. Uddhav Thackeray and the various coalition people that he has around them need to meet people who are doing big projects or those wanting to do big projects in their state,” said Branson, the founder of the diversified conglomerate Virgin Group.

    "Instead of fighting over small issues, it is better to tolerate some things. It is good to share issues which you feel strongly about. If both parties work together, it is beneficial for both," he said. "It is not that Shiv Sena will never go with the BJP again. Uddhav Thackeray will take the right decision at the right time," Joshi said.
