In one case from Gujarat, a jeweller deposited cash worth Rs 4.1 crore between November 11 and December 31 in 2016, as against Rs 44,260 during the same period in 2015. The jeweller was unable to justify the massive increase of 93,648% as sale proceeds. PM Modi on November 8, 2016, had announced a ban on high-value currency notes.
