  • "Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), 20.84 crore loan accounts totalling an amount of Rs 10.24 lac crore have been sanctioned up to November 1, 2019," Minister of State (IC) for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

    “Under PMKVY (2016-20), as on November 11, 2019, approximately 69.03 lakh candidates have been trained throughout the country,” minister Singh said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha on Friday.

    In states like Tamil Nadu and Odisha, maternity benefits are relatively superior, both in terms of what they offer, and the number of beneficiaries. Tamil Nadu has had a maternity entitlement programme in place since 1987, and as of now, pregnant mothers in the State get Rs 14,000 in cash and a nutritional kit of Rs 4,000 for the first two pregnancies.

    The Centre on Wednesday approved construction of nearly 3.31 lakh more houses, taking the total number of houses being funded under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (Urban) to 96.5 lakh.

    Earlier this year, the government has taken steps such as mandatory issuance of letter of credit to generating companies by discoms and single-day payment. Under single-day payment, discoms have to make payments a day in advance to procure power supply, which will be carrying cost.

    The work is being carried under the centrally-sponsored Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which is a mega flagship programme with the main objective of providing connectivity to rural areas. The programme is being implemented by the Public Works (Roads and Buildings) Department of the Union Territory.

    The training in ISDS also covered 33 states and Union Territories of the country, widely covering all sections of the society such as women(71.27%), Scheduled Caste(20.82%), Schedule Tribes (6.9%) and Divyang Jan(0.28%). “Out of the 11.14 lakh persons trained so far, 8.43 lakh persons have been employed,” textiles minister told Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

    Besides, government has envisaged setting up of Indian Institute of Skills with unique features that would make them different from the existing setup of ITIs, Polytechnics, and Advanced Training Institutes (ATIs). The union cabinet has approved the proposal of setting up of IISs at three locations in the country.

    The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) raises funds through long term bonds, usually of 10-15 years tenures.

    LIC Housing Finance Ltd has set a target of disbursing Rs 55,000 crore worth loans during the current financial year, a top official said on Saturday.

    The central government is reviewing the two-year-old index by adding new benchmarks to ensure a more realistic picture. A senior government official told ET that the national health authority, the apex body responsible for implementing the flagship public health insurance scheme, plans to include the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the Niti Aayog health index.
