The Delhi Police has filed a charge sheet in a court and named Sharjeel Imam as an instigator for violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at New Friends Colony on December 15 last year. The police has cited CCTV footage, call detail records and statements of over 100 witnesses as evidence in the charge sheet.
No anticipatory bail under SC/ST anti-atrocities act
Speaking to ET, Gehlot said, “In 2018, we had brought about amendments in the SC ST Act, which clearly say that there would be no provision of anticipatory bail. The amendment has been passed by Parliament. The law is absolutely clear – there is no provision for anticipatory bail.”
