On track to drive in 10 products this year: Mercedes-Benz India

"We had planned for ten launches this year and we will do that. Some delay is expected obviously but we are still on track, all products will be launched," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Martin Schwenk told.

  • "This week, we should start producing Hector Plus. We would be launching the product in the second week of July," said MG Motor India President & Managing Director Rajeev Chaba. Sharing the company's strategy on the new model, he said it will be an extension of its existing SUV Hector.

The COVID-19 and lockdown constraints limited the company's sales this month, but it is sure of delivering many more cars to customers in July, Kia Motors India Managing Director and CEO Kookhyun Shim said.

It had signed a memorandum of understanding in 2019 with the Indian group that runs a dealership network for Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and FCA, but there had since been hardly any progress over the pact, they said.

The new Kicks includes features such as vehicle stability management system, electronic stability control, traction control system, and a hill start assist, and cruise control, among others, the company said.

The company is gradually gaining momentum in the commercial segments due to its rugged, low maintenance and strong durability - attributes that define its SUVs in India. In 2020, the company had started to shift more focus to the fleet, work, and ranch/agricultural opportunities.

For the first time, the B-SUV concept will be showcased to the world on July 16, 2020, at the global headquarters, it said. Building on company's global SUV heritage and advanced technology, the new compact SUV is designed as a feature-rich premium offering with stylish design for a strong and dynamic road presence, Nissan India said.

The company is the first automobile player in the country to introduce iMT technology that offers customers convenience of two-pedal clutch-less technology combined with fun-to-drive elements of a manual transmission, HMIL said in a statement.

The auto major said the Venue is the highest selling sub four-meter compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the January-May period of 2020.

The model will be available in both standard and long-wheelbase body designs with customers able to choose from four exterior colours

The Kia Seltos held a 58% share of the mid-size SUV market in the first five months of 2020. The MG Hector too accounted for more than half the total sales the premium SUV space. Both companies are now in the process of ramping up operations after the lockdown.

Creta secured pole position last month with a sale of 3,212 units. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga, which took the second spot with a sale of 2,353 units. The auto major secured third position as well with its compact sedan Dzire selling 2,215 units. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra's popular model Bolero on fourth spot with a sale of 1,715 units.

As part of the transformation plan, the company will build on its existing strengths in the region, maximise synergies with alliance partners and leverage an expansive and competitive manufacturing presence in South Africa, Egypt, India and Nigeria, it added.

The refreshed Seltos now comes equipped with ten new features related to safety, convenience, connectivity and design, over and above other key enhancements, the company said in a statement. Moreover, many existing features in higher variants such as sunroof are now available in lower variants too, the statement added.
