    The state government has hoped to generate more employment for the youth, who usually move out to Gujarat and Maharashtra as agricultural labourers or brick kiln workers.

    “The scheme was a promise at the central level. Congress could not win the elections. At present, we are fulfilling our promises made in the run-up to the assembly elections — loan waiver, employment guarantee to the youth and bonus to farmers. We will wait and see if other Congress governments introduce, then we could consider it in future,” Baghel said.

    Coal India’s total annual Power requirement for production is around 4.5 billion units which would require setting up 3000 MW of solar power projects. To achieve its goal, the company has formed a joint venture with NLC India (NLCIL) to jointly set up 5000 MW of power generation capacity of which 3000 MW would be solar powered and the rest would be coal-fuelled.

    Cumulative production of iron ore up to October 2019 was recorded at 15.95 mt against 15.47 mt up to October 2018, while production in October 2019 went down to 2.49 mt against 3.23 mt in October 2018. NMDC reported the provisional production and sales figures in a notification to the BSE on Monday.

    In the first tranche of coal block auction in 2015, the coal ministry had rejected Jindal Power's best bids for Gare Palma IV/2&3 block and Tara block that received low bids as compared to other blocks. The two Gare Palma blocks were given to Coal India for operation and the high court later upheld the decision. JSPL emerged as the highest bidder for the block.

    According to statistics from the Chhattisgarh government there's been a 39% drop in Naxal attacks from 344 till August in 2018 to 210 in the same period this year. The number of Special Forces personnel killed has also declined 54%.

    The banned Communist Party of India-Maoist continues to be the most potent among the various Maoist outfits in the country and accounted for more than 88 per cent of total LWE violent incidents and resultant deaths, said the Union Home Ministry's annual report, which was released last week.
