  • Vishwesha Theertha, who died aged 88 in Udupi after a brief illness on Sunday, was socially active and had reached out to Dalits with his visits to their colonies even as he carried on his spiritual activities with equal vigour and endeared thousands of devotees with his inclusive approach during his eight decades of sainthood.

As the Supreme Court granted the entire disputed land in Ayodhya to deity Ram Lalla, here is the chronology of events that led to the judgement.

"I have been informed that Mr Madani has indicated that I was removed from the case because I was unwell. This is total nonsense. He has a right to instruct his lawyer AOR Ejaz Maqbool to sack me which he did on instructions. But the reason being floated is malicious and untrue," senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan added on the social networking site.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind will file a review petition against the Supreme Court's Ayodhya verdict on Monday afternoon, sources in the prominent Muslim body said.

This decision of the Supreme Court has for the first time corrected a historical wrong against the faith and beliefs of Hindus that the 1,500 square yards in Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram. It did so on evidence and in accordance with legal principles.

The apex court said Janma Sakhies, which have been brought on record contains a description of visit of Guru Nanak Devji to Ayodhya, where he had darshan of birthplace of Lord Ram. SC said there is no material to identify the exact place of Ram Janmabhoomi but the visit of Guru Nanak to Ayodhya depicted that pilgrims were visiting there even before 1528 A.D.

In an unanimous verdict, the Supreme Court on Saturday paved the way for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site at Ayodhya, and directed the Centre to allot an alternative 5-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a new mosque at a "prominent" place in the holy town in Uttar Pradesh.

Asked how he envisages the proposed Ram temple to be, Ravi Shankar said, "Which will bring peace in the country and establish brotherhood between both the communities. Work has started towards the realisation of the dream the country harboured for a long time of having a grand Ram temple."

A general advisory has been sent to all states and UTs asking them to deploy adequate security personnel in all sensitive places and ensure that no untoward incident takes place anywhere in the country, a home ministry official said. MHA has rushed 40 companies of paramilitary forces to UP to assist the state government in maintaining law and order.

After the apex court's verdict on claering way for Ram mandir at the site in Ayodhya, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath plans to deliver several projects revolving around Ram Lalla's birth place including an ‘Eye Theme Park’, Shabri garden, Ashok Vatika and international museum by 2023.

BJP Chief Amit Shah accused the Congress of stalling Ayodhya verdict and delaying the abrogation Article 370 that could solve the Kashmir problem earlier. In addressing the campaign ahead of Jharkhand elections, he added that the Centre has framed a defence policy that has protected the borders and freed the country of terrorism.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad is set to felicitate the entire legal team that fought for Ayodhya case in the court that ultimately won themvictory to build Ram Lalla temple at the disputed site. The team was led by senior Supreme Court lawyer K. Parasaran. The VHP has also invited lawyers who fought the case in the high court and lower court.
