  • The chief justice of Tripura high court on Friday said that government employees can participate in political programmes including rallies and meetings and could also post on social media freely without attracting punitive measures nder Rule 5 of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules.

    North Tripura district police chief Bhanupada Chakraborty said that acting on an intelligence input, the police arrested the militants -- Phanijoy Reang, Samprai Debbarma and Kanti Marak, from Panisagar and Dharmanagar railway stations on Wednesday night. The police also seized one 9 mm pistol, huge live cartridges and many incriminating documents.

    The girl had suffered 90% burn injuries after being set on fire, allegedly by her boyfriend and his mother, at Shantirbazar, South Tripura, on Friday. Police said the girl was rescued by the neighbours of the accused who took her to GB Pant Hospital here, and added that the girl was held captive for ransom by her boyfriend for two months.

The Clause 6 of the Assam Accord guaranteed safeguarding local rights, language and culture.
