I am 27 years old and my investment period is 15-20 years. My current investments are:
ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund: Rs 1,500 (1 year)
SBI Blue Chip Fund: Rs 1,000 (8 months)
Reliance Small Cap Fund: Rs 500 (8 months)

And I am planning to invest in the following funds:
HDFC Top 100 Fund: Rs 1,000
Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip Fund: Rs 1,000
Axis Midcap Fund: Rs 1,000
Please suggest if this portfolio is good? Do I need to make any changes?

Shweta Jain, founder, Investography, responds:

I think some portfolio revamp is needed. You also need to set goals so that the investment is recommended for that particular time horizon. We all think about long term but when the market is down, we panic if we don’t have a goal in mind for the investments. So, set your goals first. This will also help you to understand what kind of risk you can take. In your portfolio, I would not recommend you to continue with SBI Blue Chip Fund and Reliance Small Cap Fund. I would recommend that you should invest in Invesco India Growth Opportunities Fund and ICICI Prudential Nifty Next 50 Index Fund. If you are comfortable with Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip Fund that is fine too. I don’t recommend the other two funds you mentioned.
