OIL, Bhel, and now Gail: PSUs’ tender prequalification norms favour Big Four, leave out Indian firms


Synopsis
Indian CA and consultancy firms are blaming PSUs for going against the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat while hiring consultants for tax and GST-related work. The restrictive conditions imposed by some state-run entities, they allege, have effectively pre-empted the participation of most domestic firms in tenders. A case in point is natural gas major Gail’s recent tender.
